This is an excellent movie about a mathematics teacher in downtown L.A.
It reminds us of some of our classes!
The scene where the teacher shows his class how to multiply by nine using the fingers and thumbs of both of his hands is a gem.
Try it in class !
Extend it to multiplying 9 by numbers larger than 9, and multipling numbers larger than 9 by numbers larger than 9. All to be done on your hands.
Someone in your class will come up with a grand way of doing it.
This movie goes down well with all ages.
Start at the lesson on slicing an apple and showing fractions. The scene with hand multiplying follows. It occurs early in the movie.

"Stand and Deliver" page 2.
Use your hands to multiply the numbers up to 9 by 9.
Now use your hands to multiply numbers from 9 to 19 by 9.
If you can do this find a method to multiply all numbers up to 99 by 9.
